Lil Wayne: 50 Cent criticises rapper for sharing smiling Trump photo after retracting own support for president

50 Cent has criticised Lil Wayne for taking a photo with Donald Trump in the days before the US presidential election.

On Thursday (29 October), rapper Wayne announced that he had met with the US president to discuss his plans for black Americans, sharing a picture in which he and Trump both posed with their thumbs up.

“Just had a great meeting with @realdonaldtrump,” Wayne captioned the post. “Besides what he’s done so far with criminal reform, the Platinum Plan is going to give the community real ownership. He listened to what we had to say today and assured he will and can get it done.”

The picture sparked backlash from many of Wayne’s fans, including fellow rapper 50 Cent, who had also shown support for Trump over his Platinum Plan but later withdrew his endorsement.

“Oh no, Wayne,” 50 tweeted, adding a head-in-hands emoji. “I would have never took this picture.”

The rapper wasn’t the only public figure to call out Lil Wayne for sharing the photo with Trump, with Community star Yvette Nicole Brown speculating that, like 50, Wayne seemed to be backing Trump over his tax plans for highest earners.

“I am so glad I love people more than my bank balance,” she commented. “There’s nothing a white supremacist could offer me that is worth my people or the lives of any other group of people in this country who are suffering.”

Another Twitter user wrote: “Did you ask him why he decided to meet w/ you less than a week before Election Day? When are some of y’all gonna learn?”
